WWEM, WEFTEC and Lab Innovation and Advanced Engineering 2022

Microsaic has had a busy month of conferences in both the States and the UK. On the second week of October 2022, the Microsaic and Modern Water teams attended both WWEM and WEFTEC. A couple weeks later Microsaic were exhibiting Lab Innovations and Advanced Engineering in Birmingham, UK. Throughout these conferences Microsaic had the opportunity to showcase the latest service and product offering.

In this blog post we will give an overview of the conferences attended and our key take aways and insight into our new offerings at Microsaic.

WETFEC 2022

The week kicked off in New Orleans attending WEFTEC 2022, with Modern Waters Paul Ryan, Cary Morris and Doug Workman alongside Helmer Korb a representative from Microsaic’s distributor iChrom Solutions. WEFTEC is a water quality event to meet water professionals from around the world, with leading experts and showcasing the latest trends and technologies.

Modern Water’s Microtox solutions and Microsaic’s PFAS Screening Solutions unit were all on display during the three-day event. In addition to learning about new water technologies, the team had the opportunity to create new connections and share ideas.

WWEM 2022

During the same week Microsaic was alongside Modern Water, in Telford, for WWEM 2022. Victoria Ordsmith and Modern Waters Jon Shephard were on-site to display Microsaic and Modern Water’s innovative water monitoring products

Over the course of the two days, the “Lab in a Van” was showcased outside the convention centre. Visitors were given a tour of the van and discussed the value of mobile monitoring for rapid and accurate results on-site. In the van, the Microsaic PFAS monitoring system was also on exhibition, and attendees were given a demonstration of it.

During the conference PhD student Denise de Meijer of Swansea University presented “An Analytical and Epigenetic Investigation of the Environmental and Human Health Impacts of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl ‘forever chemicals’”, showcasing Microsaic’s PFAS monitoring system. In her talk, De Meijer emphasised the need for technology and methodologies that enable in-field testing to better identify exposure routes, enhance mitigation strategies, and assess the danger to the environment and public health.

The conference also held the WWEM Gala Dinner Awards, with special guest speaker Kriss Akabusi. Mr. Akabusi addressed the crowd that evening with a speech that emphasised teamwork and perseverance. Microsaic was delighted to have its PFAS Monitoring as a finalist alongside Modern Water’s Microtox PD in the WWEM Innovative Product of the Year Award.

Lab Innovations and Advanced Engineering 2022

The first week in November Microsaic finished a busy month of conferences at Lab Innovations and Advanced Engineering at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. In recent years Lab Innovations who was celebrating its 10th anniversary and Advanced Engineering have combined conferences, allowing Microsaic to showcase both it’s science and engineering services alongside its laboratory services and point of need technology and solutions.

At the conference Microsaic’s CTO Richard Moseley was able to present, this range of solutions and Microsaic’s expertise in the miniaturisation of analytical instrumentation, in his talk at the cleanroom hub. Over the three conferences Microsaic were able to showcase the services and products on offer and engage with existing and new customers. With the focus being on Microsaic’s services and monitoring solutions.

Service solutions

With Lab Innovations and Advanced Engineering joining forces this presented the perfect opportunity for Microsaic to showcase its laboratory and science and engineering services. With over 20 years’ experience in miniaturisation of analytical instrumentation, Microsaic’s services-based solutions allow customers to harness this expertise for their own projects. With access to our teams in hardware, software and application development Microsaic provide a complete solutions approach bespoke to customers needs.

An example of this is the recent projects with Modern Water in the concept development all the way through to manufacturing. This includes work on the Modern Water Microtox PD and CTM systems.

PFAS monitoring

This year at WWEM the conference had a whole section dedicated to the monitoring and mapping of PFAS. PFAS or Forever Chemicals bio accumulate in our environment and in the human body. Microsaic uses in-field PFAS Screening to monitor the man-made compounds. Microsaic’s technology achieves limits of detection as defined by regulatory standards, but at the point of need. This enables immediate analysis to generate the data to inform decisions, fast. Modern Water works alongside Microsaic’s PFAS monitoring with the “Lab in a van”.

Thank you

Modern Water and Microsaic would like to thank WWEM, WEFTEC, Lab Innovations and Advanced Engineering for organising such successful conferences once again this year. Missed us at these conferences?
